There is a science to the art of conflict resolution.  Scientific learning about the brain, and how the brain impacts human relationships, communication and the successful resolution of conflict has exploded in recent years.  As a result, the value and the practice of mindfulness as it relates to conflict resolution has become an essential part of any discussion of human relationships.  Mindfulness is the systematic practice of paying attention without judgment (i.e. active listening).  Using mindfulness techniques when working with families can help lead to positive relationships.  Through hands-on learning and discussion, this session will introduce exercises and techniques that are transferable to building positive relationships with parents and colleagues alike, resulting in the building of “one team,” within and outside of an IEP.
